Judas Priest with Diamonds & Rust
I knew that. When 10 or 11 my brother would make me put on some giant headphones and listen to that among their other material (The Green Monalishi, The Ripper, Breaking The Law, et al... quintessential heavy metal).
the Steve Forbert song that memorialized the death of Elvis Presley?
Johnny Bye Bye? A Springsteen b-side though I'm almost certain that BS wrote it, and not so much a memorial so forget it.

BBN: your cheekbones are turning me on. I think the Joni look suits you. Boy is that a lovely cover, and the contents within even better.

Since this track is on one Steve's out-take collections, yes I googled, obviously its a bit too obscure for us all. So, to move things on, any chance of another question?

It's an amazing record. But what's that thing at the bottom, on the road? It looks like a chopped off penis.

El Vez, another question, as per Martin's request? We seem to have stalled...

I'll just give my question to Pophead because I don't think anyone cares for my participation.

Elv, it's not like that at all. It's just that you tend to draw your questions from a type of arcana that's not known to many people on this board. In other words, yes, you're just too damn good for us! We all love a challenge, but maybe we should institute a 24 hour rule? Or is that too wimpy? Maybe...

24 hour rule maintains the momentum of the thread. I'd never heard of Steve Forbert until I come accross him on the Ray Davies tribute album which got mentioned on the RD thread. He does a great take on "Starstruck", when his name popped up on this thread I looked at steveforbert.com and he seems to have had a huge career without me noticing. Does he have a famous signature tune that I'd know? What's his story, El Vez?

Still don't know the answer.

His only real hit over here was ROMEO'S TUNE, no? Was the LP called JACK RABBIT SLIM? WHatever it was, it was a great record start to finish, as I recall; I'm not surprised he's maintained a fanbase, and I'd love to catch up on his stuff at some point...

You are all being very kind so I will ask another question if that is copacetic.....

What featured artist on Dylan's Rolling Thunder tour also worked for David Bowie as a guitarist and was a prime architect in developing the Ziggy Stardust sound?

Well the only guess I have is Robert Fripp but that doesn't really seem right.

Good guess. Jim has played with just about everyone, but according to this,
http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=am ... 029#APPEAR ,
not Steve. The musician in question backed EC last friday in Bochum, and also plays an amazing solo on Steve's new album.

I guess I'm guilty of obscure SF related questions as well. The answer is Vicktor Krauss. The useless fact leapt out at me when I saw the details about fridays show. Here's an easy one. What member of Clover did not play on EC's first album?
