God, Help Me!! I'm almost 41!!
Okay, I admit it...I wanna hog the board "limelight" for today, then I promise to "unstick" this post.
Today (okay, yesterday), June 25th, 2003:
Go to work in full office regalia, VIPs due to visit our site. Never saw a thing, UNTIL--
Operations/Site Manager (i.e., local 'Big Kahuna') stops me as I'm heading back to work from lunch...
Now, picture THIS--Big Kahuna introduces me to the CORPORATE CEO!! Personally!!
The tragedy?? I had 2 milk duds in my mouth, ooooey-goooey caramel, chocolate, and all. So, my oh-so-intelligent responses were nothing but incoherent mumbles. Made a REAL impression!!
At any rate, on top of it all, the previously mentioned 'Big Kahuna" pulls me aside, and gives me an inside line on a BIG internal promotion & raise...all I have to do is submit an updated resume, internal application, cover letter, etc. ASAP!!
Today's my day off. Hell, it's my 41ST BIRTHDAY, kids! I had better plans than this, dontcha know??
But I stayed up late (1:30+ a.m. my time) finished the stupid-ass project, drank some beer (2 more to go!!), then I'm off to sleepy-land. I'm doing the 'bar' thing tomorrow, drink a couple of free beers, and wait (impatiently) for the delivery of my Ramones Anthology (my brother is always late!) or my Joe Jackson Band Tickets (won't see those until August, at any rate!!)
Yeah, I know...piss & moan, hiss & groan. Damn, this board is good therapy!!
Incidentally, I won't actually be 41 until 6:19 this evening, Pacific Standard Time...I hope to be well-ripped by then!!
Cheers!!

My very best wishes to you for a fabulous birthday! I wanted to do something nice for you, but I suppose I might have already done you the biggest favor by helping you get those Joe Jackson tickets. I wish I could be there with you, or better yet, I wish you could be in Atlanta with Taz and I when we see him.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the show! Happy Birthday to a great gal who deserves a great day!!!!!!!

A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fuckin' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on.
Sulky-- Happy returns of the day, as I believe Pooh once said.
You're summed up 41 perfectly-- finally being treated as an adult, only to be caught with a mouthful of drool and Milkduds. Finally learning to plan a nice day for your own birthday, and then being forced to chuck it for some (perversely!) genuinely appealing, if annoying, reason.
You have fared well, grasshopper! Allow me to quote my favorite Garbage tune to you..
In a modern culture
My friend you must be careful
They've a million
Ways to kill ya.
In this dangerous world
There's an art to growing old
Taking chances, magic happens.

To everybody--
Thanks so much for the kind words & well-wishing. Oily, you can't be THAT damn old, lacklustre, your compliments are welcome, Plaything, you SHOULD hog the board for graduation. Norman, poppet, taz, Gilli, Mug, sp00ks, Mood, needle (and thanks for kncking a few years off, old sod!), everybody on this board is just fantastic, I have so much fun here!!
And sp00ks, the tickets WERE a great gift, couldn't a-done it without you (and Daddy's Credit Card).
Am off to the boy-child's high school to pay his Woodshop fines ($16, he "forgot" he bought materials to build a custom skateboard in Class), otherwise, they won't give me his report card, and he's been dodging some classes...need to deal with that. Then, off to my favorite little hole-in-the-wall for some free "Birthday Refreshment" (i.e., Bud pounders w/fresh cut lime). Will report back in later on.
I Love you ALL!!

idle, goody, blue...thanks much.
5 beers into it, 4 at my local "watering hole" where something interesting occured today--
My husband, also know as "Fucking Bob!" came in today, for the first time since I started to go there (almost 2 years ago), finally discovered I'm not "trolling", & is giving me a break. More later!!

You all have NO IDEA how much your well-wishing, etc. , has meant to me...I have actually cried real tears over your individual sentiments, and I must admit--
I'm currently DRUNK-AS-A-SKUNK!!!
Please, shoot me before reality takes hold (***hic***)
God. Help Me!
