Elvis at Hubert Sumlin Show, February 2006
Elvis Costello was indeed a special guest at Hubert Sumlin's show on February 25. Other performers included Levon Helm and David Johansen. Elvis arrived at B.B. King's Blues Bar & Grill just before the show began, and sat down with friends. About midway through the two-hour set, he was called to the stage to sing lead vocals on "Hidden Charms." He then remained onstage throughout the rest of the set, and supplied backing vocals and guitar. He got an enthusiastic reception and seemed to enjoy playing in a blues band.
Elvis at Hubert Sumlin Show
Hello,
My name is Michael. First day on the forum, but a long time
Elvis fan. I jsut wanted to introduce myself and add my
comments since I was the show. In fact, my wife and I
sat right above Elvis. I got to meet him, shake his hand
and thank him for all the music. He was very nice, signing
autographs and shaking hands.
It was very cool when a group of 4 kids, probably around
10-12 years old all came up and got his autograph. I saw
the kids afterward and they were just thrilled.
The show was fantastic, a full 2hours of blues. Nothing
like it.
anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and I look
forward to reading as many posts as I can get too.
thanks,
michael

This is a little off the EC topic, but has to do with the show.
During the show a guy named I thin Brian mingus came up on stage.
He sang, pretty well, and danced. It appeared to me that this
was a common practice, as they all seemed to know him very well.
Anyone have any idea who he is? I googled it, but found nothing.
thanks,
michael

Could it have been Eric Mingus?
Here he is with Hubert Sumlin:
He also appeared with both Elvis and David Johansen at the Harry Smith Project in Los Angeles in 2001.
