Well I went looking on Friday and today (Sunday) but to no avail. I might go down the internet route now instead... I can wait another week... maybe...

People should post here, purely to show-off, if they have the reissues. Post a picture, if you can...

Jesus, I'm hopeless. So much for abstinence. Walked an hour from work to town and ended up in HMRipoff after Tower and Golden Discs (quaint Irish chain) didn't have 'em at all. I then debated just buying Get Happy!!! because the cover's been altered to now have a fake sticker saying "50 Great Hits", then I bought all of them for 65Euro. Ouch. Jesus, Ouch.

I have GH on now but I feel that I have to listen to the original album first before I get to the Bonus stuff... though that's now getting ripped for the iPod.

My Laptop's getting fixed so I can't upload the gawky photo of me and my third copy of GH, third copy of Trust, third copy of Punch the Clock.

A few notes:
If you buy one, buy Get Happy!!! EC's notes cover the Ray Charles incident with surprising frankness. Plus the bonus disc has 30 songs and is 70+ minutes long.

The notes on Punch the Clock are the same as the Ryko reissue save for a new intro and post script. That pissed me off. The bonus disc is huge though, almost 70 minutes and a huge amount of demos. I love demos.

I'm looking forward to becoming closer to Trust. However the bonus disc appears to be the weakest.

I'm using a two-pronged excuse for buying the reissues today:
(1) The cost of 'em is the same amount I'm saving on my mortgage by switching to a variable rate, therefore it's found money!
(2) Tomorrow's my birthday (29, arse)

... which reminds me that for my 15th birthday I wanted Get Happy!!! and didn't get it, so I went and got it two days later with a voucher. Wow, 14 years later and it makes more sense as I get older...

*stomps feet* I want them NOW!!!

I can't wait for September - 3 new reissues and a new album!

My roomates had better prepare themselves....for non-stop EC and me being broke!

I haven't heard all of Get Happy or Trust (I have a tape of Punch the Clock that I found a few months ago for $2.50 used!) so I'm really excited.

Maybe it's better for my bank account and credit card that I have to wait a bit.

Happy birthday Dr J! It's now the 29th, so I can say that - 29 on the 29th, you know it makes sense. good present to yourself. Came here hoping to read you'd got 'em, though good to know they weren't out in Ireland early, cos I would have been too jealous. I've held back from ordering them, will probably get my FIRST EVER copy of Trust tomorrow, and then order the other two from Play to save £4 a throw. Then again, somewhere might have them on better prices.

Well done, too, SLL. Great to know they exist at last! Now roll on KOA etc.

Happy birthday Dr. J. Best wishes to you and color for Shabbydoll who is getting spoiled by the Super Furry Animal website! Take comfort, good doctor, you are younger than me, barely, but still. Now is the time to Get Happy!!!

Leave it to you Noiseradio to be able to name Sunny Funny.

Now we are waiting for full reports on the bonus discs from all the lucky ones. Trust can not possibly have the weakest one! Really! :x

For any North Americans with Kazaa, an audio search with keywords 'costello' and 'bonus' should yield good result.

Thank you all, that's very kind...

I listened to the GH bonus disc last night and it really is stuffed with goodness and is over 79 minutes long, and there's an extra surprise

Reissues: so far so good...

I'll get back to y'all on the other two...

Here I am wallowing in bonus tracks. Gloat gloat.

Have so far listened to the GH bonus disc once, which is mostly excellent, and as DrJ says  contains an added bonus  . The thrashy version of Girls Talk is interesting and the demo's and live tracks are good. Read the liner notes and EC still seems to have quite a bit of angst about the Ray Charles incident and includes a 2003 poscript in which Ray was introduced to someone next to him and EC turned the other way "in shame and frustration", knowing that this would be one had that he would probably never shake.

Agree that the the Trust bonus disc is the weakest of the three especially if you already have the Ryko reissue (If you don't have the Ryko then it is not quite so weak) . The liner notes are good: "It was completed close to a self-induced nervous collapse on a diet of rough "scrumpy" cider, gin & tonic, various powders, only one of which was "Andrews' Liver Salts", and, in the final hours, Seconal and Johnnie Walker Black Label".

I did not have the Ryko PTC and so cannot compare. Haven't had time to read the liner notes and have only listened to parts of the bonus disc. Must say the the BBC Session tracks (which I haven't heard before)are v.good, and yet another version of Seconds of Pleasure is excellent (I always love this track in it's various guises). Had a quick listen to the live tracks recorded at the University of Texas, Austin on 7 Sept 83, and they kick ass.

What's the bonus? WHAT'S THE FECKIN' BONUS???!!!!

No, don't tell!! I'll find out tomorrow. Can't believe people actually go to HMRipoff to buy them. They're meant to be 2-disc albums at single album prices, I've even heard Elvis say that! That's 13 squid I'll be saving.

Trust cd has a funny anecdote about writing 7'o'clock for Dr Feelgood only to be rebuffed by the eloquent Mr Brilleaux!
This excellent new edition is worth buying for this anecdote on its own. The new outtakes are great. Having heard them on bootleg, its truly wonderful to hear them direct, in particular Steve Nieve's great throway piano playing on Slowdown.

The Get Happy set is better value for money. The bonus disc is a fascinating documentary on what was going on around this time, both during the recording of the album and the spin-off singles. Hearing the New Amsterdam EP tracks in such clarity makes them fresh again, bringing back memories of spinning the vinyl for the first time. The live tracks are perfectly blended together, that Don't Look Back cover bringing back memories of the Peter Tosh version. The hidden extra is neat.

I remember browsing in a record shop when a Rep walked in and dumped a box load of 45s on the counter saying lines 'see if you can shift these for me' to the Assistant.

Intrigued, I checked it out and was amazed to see the New Amsterdam EP for 50p! I bought it before the Rep was out the door.

For me the highlight of the reissues is Black Sails In The Sunset on Trust. One of his best tunes, Steve Nieve's virtuoso performance. Out Of Our Idiot's version was great but muddy. The Ryko version improved the sound but faded out that beautiful piano 'outro' (presumably for space reasons - it gained seconds for another track to be included, presumably) - something I was really disappointed by.

Now this one sounds better than ever - and the full outro is there. This is now going in any future 'best of' compliations I do for my mates!

And, now guys - I don't think there are really any bonuses on the bonus disc of Get Happy are there! You're teasing! x
