if no one will ever see, how can everybody say he looks like me?

That's the whole point - he's become ignored, transparent, invisible. As in "Now I'm the Invisible Man"

I should have added a :? . I appreciate the metaphor, but it's one of those things like when people say (at least around here they do) 'I got a friend OF MINE.' it drives me batshit.

I was listening to this a few years back with my mother. She said, 'Oh it's about a new baby.' So since then I take it that no one sees the child as a stranger but the narrator. The rest about the period of adjustment, emotional, physical and in the relationship that a new baby brings. He is pushed aside but the child's needs no more 'carefree days' the baby is the focus and he's a bit pouty.

no. storms about right. really the relationship is just dead. the first line covers it. one of the most direct recordings he has ever made.
I'm not concerned about the very poor.

No. I'll stick with my mother's take.

interesting take, LJ.

since I couldn't sleep this morning, I took the liberty of re-writing the line.

"There's a stranger in the house no one will ever see
but someone should've said she's missing meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee."

thank you animal lovers. elvis, you owe me a coke.
