That's Presley doing a Dylan song btw... Bob was immensely proud. When Elvis died he wouldn't speak for three days.

I've mentioned this before, but my first thought on Elvis P's death was that now, there'd never be the two-disc "Elvis Sings Elvis" set, Disc One being "Presley Sings Costello" and disc II being "Costello Sings Presley." I fear this is as close as it gets. :(

I wish the English Teacher-jabs were left behind after graduation. Now I know they'll never leave.

Huzzah for the concision and clarity of proper English! Bronx cheers to misplaced modifiers, careless spelling and all uses of the word "irregardless"!

In general it's so easy to confuse or mislead somebody with bad grammar. I have a good book on it too so no excuses.

Of course, there is an out-of-print LP entitled ROSS McMANUS SINGS THE HITS OF ELVIS PRESLEY. I have this on vinyl, and El's dad sounds a lot like Presley. Definitely one of the more obscure Costello-related collectibles. Ross even looks like EC on the cover (wearing black horn-rims). It was recorded in the late 60's.

Thanks, migdd. And hello again to everyone. Both business and personal matters have consumed my time lately, but I really missed this board and all its wonderful personalities. I'll try to check in more often this time, but please know that even in absence I think of you folks a lot, and I think a lot of you folks.

I appreciate the welcome very much!

Hi, Plaything! Hugs and kisses back at ya, sweetie.

I've been adjusting my life to not being a music store manager for the first time in 20 years. As some of you know, the chain I worked for, The Music Network, went bankrupt in August. It's been a struggle since, but I'm starting to feel ground under my feet again.

So, long story short, I missed youse guys and felt like talking again.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome back.

Just to set the record straight, that was not an English teacher-ism but an EC ref... Bobster's far too gracious to be correcting grammar.

The only thing I dislike more than people who lazily abuse the English language are the folks who feel they must correct people when, in the given context, it's not really that important.

I work with a lot of people who wouldn't know good grammar if it bit them in the ass, but it's no reflection on their intelligence or character, just on their education.
