Famous Elvis fans

Post by Neil. »

I refuse to link to the Daily Mail, but I was looking for a story about Jake Gyllenhaal when I stumbled across an article in which he talked about personal hygiene:

"At the time, the Donnie Darko star went on to cite one of his favorite musicians as the reason why he does keep certain hygienic and practical routines in place.

'I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do that,' he said. "

So Elvis, if you can't get Hugh Jackman to do Face in the Crowd, get Jake - like Hugh, he is also a great singer and did Sunday in the Park with George on Broadway. Here he is in action:

Anyone else we know who's a famous Elvis fan?

I definitely saw Christopher Eccleston as I was leaving a gig in Manchester in the 1990s. And as we know, Alan Bleasdale is a big fan.

Admittedly just on a level below BA/VG/JF and SL (aka Glyn Johns) , I recall Jo Brand saying that avidly following EC has lead her to spend a small fortune on multiple purchases of the same music, suckered in via the myriad coloured vinyl editions and endless re-issues. Clearly one of us.

Also Maria and Angela Eagle, former Liverpool MPs who I used to see at the very front in the standing (i.e. pushing/dancing) gigs at the Royal Court, they also got to spin the wheel at RAH. Maria is pictured after the legendary Picket show in 2007 : http://www.elviscostello.info/wiki/inde ... _10_me.jpg

Phil Jupitus, Alison Moyet, and Jeremy Vine.
Not exactly World Superstars but proper EC fans none the less.

Yes. Didn't Vine once say that TYM is his favourite LP of all time? I don't think he's on record yet as to what he thinks of the Spanish version, but I hope he likes it!

I have only ever seen Vine at one Costello gig at Kenwood House. He was wearing a sheepskin coat in July
