Magnificent Hurt coming October 27, 2021

Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

Good spotting!

It looks like the cover art itself says "The Boy Named If And Other Children's Tales" rendered in EC's inimitable style.

One good spotting deserves another! In my excitement, I didn’t even notice “And Other Children’s Tales”.

Excellent news, and good spotting, everyone! Nothing flickering on iTunes or Amazon yet, but if the cover art is already out there, suggests we might be getting the LP this year rather than 2022?

well, now comes my own trial. after about a year of utter, weird off-put about e.c., something new, maybe. been a strange time, to fall out of a long-lasting love. what to do, what to do? listen, i hope. and again, i've said it before, i'd buy a book of his art.

p.s./, ec did mention in some thread about children songs, yes?

If it doesn't sound patronising. I think I would say...don't overthink it. It's just an LP, at the end of the day. Give it a spin. If you don't like it, don't buy it. It sounds like he'll have another one out next year, so maybe you'll like that.

I'm in the fortunate position of loving Hey Clockface (and still playing it two or three times a day), so the prospect of a new Imposters/rock'n'roll LP has me very excited. On the other hand, I wasn't mad about North, Kojak Variety, Il Sogno, Goodbye Cruel World, or about half of The River in Reverse. But in each case, the next LP sounded a lot better, to my ears.

In a career spanning 25+ 'regular' LPs, plus scores of compilations, live LPs, rarities releases, bonus discs, ballets, covers LPs, it'd be astonishing if every EC LP ticked everybody's boxes every time. I'd recommend abandoning the idea of a 'trial' and just...see if this new LP tickles your ears in a fun way. I suspect it will. :)

Good to get a definite date. Would have liked it before Christmas, but there we go. If Magnificent Hurt/Farewell OK does come out this week, we'd have a twelve-week gap until the LP. EC's recent form for dropping two or three singles in the lead-up to an LP suggests that we might expect a couple more singles in November/December? Fingers crossed.

It's great that he's saving money on graphic design by painting his own covers, but still...

So is the single going to be a physical release or digital only?

My hunch would be digital only, and similar for the next two or three 'singles' which drop before the LP. Then, a few weeks after the LP, an exclusive opportunity to buy a box-set of seven-inch singles in picture sleeves, with some related paraphernalia (postcards, art prints).

We've all got to put food on the table for the kids, right? :D

Any sign of a link to purchase the edition with the hardcover book?

Thanks. So it looks like the book is the size of a CD case (and comes with a CD inside) rather than an LP sized book that contains the vinyl inside.

Man, I agree. Liking this very much. Elvis’ voice sounds strong, the band sounds great. Only have to wait 10 weeks for the album!! ;(((

I think so. In trying to pick my way through the various permutations that are offered by 'the store', it looks like there's: 1. a CD, 2. a 12" vinyl, 3. a cassette, and 4. the book, which is the size of a CD. After that it's just which combination you fancy - the vinyl and the book, the cassette and the CD, the whole lot, the CD on its own, etc. I've gone for CD + book at £40.
