I'd pick Get Happy over OK Computer. I think the decision gets tougher if you compare The Bends with Get Happy. Both great, but completely different albums, different moods. I'd pick the Tom Tom Club over Kiss any old day, Genius of Love and Word Rappinghood are great, and I think Adrian Belew is a ...

I agree! Get a new picture! Or post the cover of the new album (either one of them, I suppose).

BaC, I didn't interpret it that way, but I DID think you saying that you were surprised that it was number 1 on the list. I hope my mistake didn't leave you buzzing like a fridge, like a detuned radio.

It is a tough album to rank. All of the songs are terrific.

Anyone have any thoughts on this revelation?

"Impatience" is a GREAT song! After Still, it may be my favorite song on North. Impatience was recorded, I think, with the Ray Nathanson horns. They played with EC and the Imposters at the Beacon in 2002, with excellent versions of WTD (similar to version he just played at Lincoln Center) ...

My comments on AB are found in another thread: "Almost Blue Bonus Disc." Re: GCW: I just purchased GCW this week (for the first time) and I am still absorbing it. In general, it isn't exceptionally different from PTC (TKO horns excluded, of course), which I liked at the time and still do. ...

The "old" KoA re-release has several excellent songs on the same CD as the "regular" album, plus a bonus CD of EC and the Confederates. If you include the extras on the first CD, that's a pretty good bonus. I listened to both AB discs this weekend, and I still think the bonus is ...

Is the Radiohead reference lost on this EC crowd?

Why would you think that one of EC's best song's would NOT be at the top of the list?

Certainly, I would probably never have listened to Chet Baker if it weren't for EC. Some artists, like Mingus, I would probably have picked up anyway, but EC's influence didn't hurt. I am glad some people like EC's rendition of Days, especially if it leads them to buy some Kinks albums, but it isn't...

Almost Blue Bonus Disc

Really is a bonus, as I like it better than the "original" material. Does anyone else agree?

Also, does anyone else agree that the Trust Bonus disc was mostly un-listenable dreck? But of course, you DO get Trust with it. . . .

How about Jackshit? That would be interesting.

You Tripped, 20% are great songs, but what about 13 Steps? It features the Attractions and has that excellent fade out!

How about Still Too Soon to Know? Another great song. I'm going to stop here before I list every song on the album. . . .

I agree with King. I DO like Beaten to the Punch, just not as much as some (most) other songs on the album. Looking at my list again, I would probably move it up two spots. Ask me again next week and who knows.

Currently, I have Get Happy on my car CD, so my views may change.

Elvis Interview

If you could ask Elvis one question (on any topic), what would it be?

Mine is this: Are Declan MacManus and Elvis Costello the same person, or is Elvis a persona you dust off before hitting the stage?

FYI, you can download You Lie Sweetly (and Passionate Fight) from Steve Nieve's website. Both are worth a listen.
