C & N New York 1996 2CD - legit?

Sorry to start a new topic everyone but I saw the tax dodgers website has for sale a 2CD of the Costello and Nieve 1996 New York full set, part of which made up the C&N box set back then. Does anyone know if it's legit? I would perhaps like to get it but not if the money is going to gangsters an...

It's blooming' good. Another little treat that'll probably send me down a rabbit hole of musical enjoyment following Michael Leonhart.

So sorry to hear about your pandemic circumstances Fred. Wishing you all the best in tough times, with hopes that live music can get restarted for all our benefit. I’m sure we’ll share whatever we can with you here.

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

Interesting to hear Ulster boy and all speculate on this, definitely some treats in store and EC will I’m sure present it all to us very cogently. Part of me feels like this is rather hard work though. Having both sets of reissues already I’d be happy for a box that traces eg the Attractions live th...

Re: The Writers Garden Live - EC to appear on Saturday, September 12, 2020

The funniest thing - and I heard Nick talk about this on an old Word Magazine podcast - was that, in response to the initial request from the producers of The Bodyguard to use the track - he wrote a letter declining and then forgot to send it. One cheque for a million quid later, he found the letter...

Photos from Barbarellas, Birmingham, April 1978

Henry Race has posted some superb unseen photos of this gig with Nick Lowe on bass after Bruce’s mishaps. I’m not sure how / if one should grab and post them - and I’ve got to set off for work (the computer on the other side of the room) so here’s a link to his FB post if I can get it working bit.ly...

Re: Trust Survivor - Results

Thanks for posting Neil - I honestly never realised the depth and quality of Matt and Luke’s lyrical imagery. Surely EC must have tipped the hat to them in an old interview as worthy successors in the UK charts? :D Sulky my street cred in East London, already on the floor, is really suffering now......

Re: Trust Survivor - Results

Thanks Kosi for organising another fun game of survivor. I’m pleased NLS won, it’s a terrific song and, as EC has long claimed, a high point for The Attractions. I’m only slightly ashamed to say that my intro to the song was via the Girls Girls Girls compilation which, after my first EC purchase (KO...

Accidents deserved clear winner - it is an unimpeachable and timeless song in a way Oliver’s Army isn’t quite, admittedly by a hair’s breadth. Thanks so much for organising Survivor, looking forward to the next when it comes.

Re: New song ‘Hetty O’Hara Confidential’, July 10, 2020

Like some here I too remain a bit unconvinced, as yet, about this number. It does remind of the Idiophone and early WIWC work, nothing bad about that but am still on the fence that this one adds a great deal...however always great to hear Elvis firing - as well as see more of his painting. I wonder ...

Re: Elvis is King . . . of collaborations!

Kudos to the compilers and the great nuggets contained therein...but I have to say this list actually does my head in. Not many things do, except perhaps de-nitting my very long haired pair of teens, which I did earlier tonight. Oh and also the ever more frequent bouts of ‘populist leader derangemen...

Brilliant, so glad EC is involved in this. Ringo is about to be 80 - I mean what, how did that happen?! For just a small part of his influence listen to Pete's drum roll in the middle of Home Is Anywhere You Hang Your Head.

Re: Elvis Costello Survivor - Which album do you want to do next.

I got a click bait entitled ‘Bear Grylls shocks the UK’ but I’m in the UK, although frankly not shocked, so maybe it’s a regional thing, albeit a very distasteful one. Not Kosi’s fault I’m sure.

Got to admit Neil that somehow the single version of Blue Chair got to me before the LP version and remains my preference for the song. Sure it had the kitchen sink thrown in to the production but at least it birthed the whole of Kojak Variety!

Blue Chair (single version) has a fine chorus of little Elvises as does You Tripped At Every Step.
