Re: new Dylan

According to Expecting Rain, the album is titled Together Through Life and will be released on April 28. Some MOJO journalists got to hear some of the record earlier this week: http://www.mojo4music.com/blog/2009/03/new_dylan_album_our_first_list.html Also of note, on March 31 the Dylan remastered s...

Re: Twitter, anyone?

I think to some degree it's a generational thing too (Facebook). Virtually everyone in my high school's graduating class is on there, not to mention 90% of my current crop of friends. We use it to organize events, share pictures, and communicate (the telephone and e-mail is great, but when you only ...

Twitter, anyone?

It's the latest craze! I started hearing so much about it in the news that I thought I'd give it a whirl. As of yet, I don't see the point, but if you want to find me you can go to www.twitter.com and look for BlueMingus (can you believe BlueChair was taken!?)

Please join me in wishing my darling wife a very happy birthday. We both have to work today, but I'm planning to take her out to a nice spot downtown for dinner this evening.

Re: Recently viewed films

But how many of the acting nominees could you really classify as "stars"? Certainly Brad, Angelina, Meryl, Sean, etc. But what about Richard Jenkins, Frank Langella, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Melissa Leo, etc.... all extremely talented actors (not stars) who probably didn't stand a ch...

Re: Recently viewed films

Bringing all the stars out to do their personal spiel on each nominee was also unnecessary, though De Niro and Kingsley both did a good job of it. That may have been my favorite aspect of the entire show, actually. There's something very inspiring about hearing a legendary actor tip their hat at a ...

Re: Leonard Cohen tour!!!

Glad to hear Leonard is finally showing the U.S. some love. Tickets are sure to be steep, but trust me, they're worth it. Easily one of the best shows I've ever been to.

No Toronto dates this time around, but Hamilton is only about an hour away, so I may look into that show.

Picked this up on vinyl yesterday, mostly for framing purposes but decided to give it a few spins before I do that.

http://www.411mania.com/siteimages/bruce_working_cover_14452.jpg After reading a few positive reviews, and several negative ones, I thought I'd check this out for myself. I've only listened to it once so far, and while there are a few skip-worthy songs the good ones are pretty great. It's probably ...

Well, that's what taste is all about though, right - differences of opinion? I think the fact that I went in with utterly low expectations was part of why I liked it. Clearly it's not for everyone, though.

Next time we're in New York we'll give you your 90 minutes back :P

Red and I are hoping to catch Frost/Nixon tomorrow, in our annual attempt to see all five best picture nominees (we've already seen Milk and Slumdog Millionaire , which leaves The Reader and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on the "to see" list. For my money, The Wrestler should have be...

Re: New Springsteen in April

Springsteen gets snubbed at the Oscars! You'd think a live performance of "The Wrestler" would have been enough of a reason to nominate him for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture, but no, this year they decided to cut back the nominees in that category to three, one of which is Peter G...

Our Favourite Recipes

I was inspired by Who Shot Sam's query to create a thread where we could share our favourite recipes. I'll kick it off with two delicious soups, one my mother sent me, and another from the Moosewood collection. CURRIED CARROT SOUP (BlueChair's mom's recipe) ¼ cup butter 1 medium onion chopped 1 tsp ...

Saw two great and very different films this weekend. First up was Ghost Town (starring Ricky Gervais, Greg Kinnear and Tea Leoni) on DVD. Red and I are both big fans of Gervais' work on Extras and The Office , but after seeing the previews for this one we were a bit concerned that it would be a roma...
