Re: The Politics of Politics: The Ride of a Lifetime

Sam, there is no chance for a republican to win the general election. Whoever wins the democratic nomination will win the Presidency. Book it. I hope it's Hillary. Like her or not, she is more qualified than Obama, and wants it more than Edwards. As I've said before it would be nice to get Bill bac...

Re: Recently viewed films

I saw "No Country" over the extended weekend. Darkest of the Coen Bros films, in my opinion. Relatively unrelenting in its unrelenting nature, which is the thinly veiled pathological violence as the personification of hell, of the worst of times, or the bane to all things good. In the love...

Re: Benazir Bhutto RIP

It is very real and will happen with increased frequency. She spoke out and was killed. It was just a matter of time. She studied here in the US (Harvard) and that fact is not lost on her executioners. Charismatic Leader. Probably didn't surround herself with the best of the best, but hell, walk a m...

Re: Your Favorite Gift

Christmas eve Mass, with my wife on my left, and my son and daughter on my right, praying together as a family and celebrating the birth of the most important person to ever walk the face of this earth, Jesus Christ. It doesn't get any better, and the love for each other doesn't wane with time. It g...

Re: The Politics of Politics: The Ride of a Lifetime

The content of my argument is so vitally omnipresent that it frightens me that people can't face it when it is so vitally apparent. Benizir Bhutto, that was a mistake, a nut, a once-in-a-lifetime anomaly, right? Frank Zappa and the Mothers, in the album Freak Out (I think it was Freak Out) kept stat...

Re: Graduate -' Elvis Should Play Ska'

I am not sure what you categorize "So Young" as, but it sounds like Ska to me. And the bigger point: argumably on of the best Ska albums of the era was the debut by the Specials that Elvis produced, "The Specials". Remains one of my favorites to this day.

Re: hate this new page

Elvis wrote: "A change is better than a rest" which is, of course, one of his many double entendre's. "A Rest, Arrest". I like the change. the operative word is "change". In general, people resist it because it disrupts comfort levels with status quo. It seems clear tha...

Narada Christmas. Of all the non-traditional New Age schlock I have heard, this is not one of them. It is a brilliant, moving Christmas Album that I highly recommend.

Our Tree is 7.5 feet in height and cost a cool $79.95 + 7.75% sales tax, plus netting ($3.00) plus $5.00 tip (definitely expected). Add a bottle of "Staa-Green" for $5.00 more and up it went. Given that it was probably cut in September, it is already dropping needles faster than a San Fran...

Senor Boomer: I admire your ideologic passion to a cause, and it sounds so wholesome and great and altruistic. And with Al Gore as the saviour of the planet (after all he invented the internet...why do you think they call them 'al-gor-ithms) you have a hero to worship. Only problem with the ideology...

Boom, you misunderstand me. I have not said that global warming is not happening. It is happening, but it is not something that concerns me to the level it does you, or other equally responsible folks. I explained my reasons for that in prior posts. Nuff said. Without Evil, we would never have had Super Dave Osborne, one of the funniest, "roadrunner-cartoon" style parodies of the death wish teaser ever. And without Super Dave, there was no Marty Funkhouser of "Curb Your Enthusiasm". Evil, you inspired stupidity and brilliance. Not sure...
