Re: Random Thoughts

Some great comments by alexv, and some great humour by so lack.

I don't want to create any illusion that Canada doesn't have its fair share of racism. It certainly does. I only bring up my Canadianess to remind everyone that I am simply an observer and not a participant in this election process.

Re: Random Thoughts

Disclaimer: As a Canadian, I have had my perspective on the United States shot down time and again. However, as a neighbour and frequent visitor of the United States, and as a husband of an American, I feel like I can share some of my observations. Do you really think Obama is going to win this elec...

Re: Recent CD Purchases

They recently reissued every Creedence Clearwater Revival album except for Mardi Gras with bonus tracks to mark the band's 40th anniversary. Today I picked up their self-titled debut, along with Willy & The Poor Boys . I now feel compelled to throw out my 1990-issued Chronicle Vol. 1 . Everythin...

Re: The Politics of Politics: The Ride of a Lifetime

Conservative minority government elected in Canada. How's this gonna work, Blue? Another election in two years time? And why is there a split between the Liberals and the NDP? Can't they find some way to work together? I know people like to go on and on about the lack of party choice here in the St...

Re: Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series Vol. 8 to be released on Oct. 7

And apparently the third disc is THE disc to get... I'd like to buy the 2cd set now (and download the third) but I suspect this third disc edition controversy is just to help promote the fact that he's releasing TTS and that eventually the 3cd version (with 3cd booklet) will be easily available. Th...

Red's results were way better.

In the UK, "Shaddap You Face" by Dolce
In the US, "I Love A Rainy Night" by Eddie Rabbitt
In Australia, "Duncan" by Slim Dusty

Just finished Paul Auster's Man In The Dark. Enjoyed it, though the end was a bit unsatisfying.

About to finally immerse myself in American Pastoral. Can't wait.

They haven't reissued Into The Music yet. I did pick up The Healing Game though, and I enjoy it... though not nearly as much as Van's earlier work.

Great news! I love how Joe Henry takes these soul musicians, strips away the production and boils them down to their essence. I will be watching out for this release.

Re: Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series Vol. 8 to be released on Oct. 7

Yeah... in keeping with past editions of The Bootleg Series, there's some cuts here that rival what was included on the albums in question. "Red River Shore" was a part of Dylan folklore, so it's nice to finally be able to hear it along with some of the other Time Out Of Mind outtakes. I l...

It seems like most people considered the debate to be a tie, if anything. But if you're interested in the polls: A new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows 46% of people who watched Friday night's presidential debate say Democrat Barack Obama did a better job than Republican John McCain; 34% said McCain did ...
