Hi. The Grateful Dead song that EC covered is "Ship of Fools" from the DEADICATED tribute CD. The EC/Cait song in question is "You Rang My Bell," a soulful tune from the soundtrack of the Cage movie THE FAMILY MAN. I'm afraid I'll have to leave the "black tarmacadam" qu...

I agree, Mug. Each listening is making this album gel as a whole to me. As "You Left Me in the Dark" progresses to "I'm in the Mood Again," you can actually feel the anguish of lost love turning into the joy of love reborn. Definitely the most straightforward lyrics he's ever wri...

Hey, Spooky. I just got around to reading about your accident, and I want to offer my sympathy. I'm glad you're okay, and I'm praying for your speedy recovery. Even though I'm a relatively infrequent poster, I recognize the kindness and love that you show everyone on the board, and I wanted to add m...

Plaything, you are very welcome, and I'm glad you're enjoying it! I am enjoying reading everyone's thoughts on the reissues and their bonus tracks. I'm curious about the hidden GH track, but part of me wants to wait and be surprised. In what must be temporary insanity on my part, I've decided to wai...

My fave is still the solo acoustic "Psycho" from the FUNDAMENTAL FROLICS various artists LP. A chilling delivery.

LV, I do have old copies on CD, but both are out-of-print. TAKING LIBERTIES is the old Columbia edition (CK36839) U.S. of course. The British TEN BLOODY MARYS AND TEN HOW'S YOUR FATHERS is on Demon. I'd give you the catalog # (FIEND something, I'm sure) but I can't find my copy at this moment. Both ...

DD, in addition to the song Blue mentioned, there's the classic "Fairytale in New York" (which duets Shane with Kirsty MacColl, one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time). There's also "Haunted" by Shane MacGowan and the Popes (a duet with Sinead O'Connor), a gorgeous rendi...

Hey, Verbal. That's a good question, and not an easy one to answer. Maybe he could pick a great show from each tour where he and the band were on fire, and give us a bonus disc (it never ends!) containing other covers and rarities performed on the same tour. Either that, or go the Pearl Jam route, a...

Mug, YOU READ MY MIND!! That's exactly what a friend and I were discussing yesterday. I even used the 'Dick's Picks" reference to get my point across. I have so many live shows on tape that are too great as complete shows to pick apart. He should release at least a representative show from each...

The thing about TAKING LIBERTIES is that we are getting all those tracks tacked onto the bonus discs of the albums or sessions they were originally intended for, but wound up as B-sides or outtakes. Like most of you, I grew up looking at TL as an album itself. It's funny, for unrelated B-sides, it h...

Hey, Verbal. I've only heard audience-tape quality live versions of "Idle Hands." Maybe he had changed it to "Temptation" by the time they brought it to the studio.

I'll bet EC has soundboard versions of all this stuff, if he ever gets around to that elusive live box set.

Hey, Plaything. All I could score today were answering machine messages from all my contacts at Universal (I have three). I begged them all for advance copies. They still may come through for me. Last year, I got WIWC two months in advance, so the timing may be right. I'll keep you posted. I just li...

Hey, Otis, what's up? I can't wait until Sept., so I'm ordering the UK editions as well. Thanks for the info!

"Weeper's Dream" is a guitar instrumental by EC alone (not bad, but not the most memorable track ever).

The only new title to me is "Seven O'Clock."

Thanks for the track listings, Martin. I think they've grown since the last time I saw them (especially GH!!) I can't wait to get a good copy of the early "High Fidelity." I'm betting it's the slow arrangement. If so, we're all in for a treat. I'm also interested in hearing the studio Mers...
