Oh, and Daniel Lanois deserves mention. I've only seen him play once, on TV, but his style was mindboggleingly revolutionary. It was mesmerising to watch and listen to. Like Hendrix, he approaches it not only as an instrument, but as a machine that makes sounds, and seemingly to the nth degree.

I just have a grave fear that, in defence of his manhood, he'll now be compelled to post some 'evidence'.

Time for another song poll. Again, there's no real logic as to the choice of songs, other than that I didn't think there was an obvious favourite. There is a connection between these songs, however -- that they all appeared on 'The Man -- The best of EC'.

It does seem to go on, doesn't it? I first heard it from a greatest hits compilation, before i knew it was by Burt, and I just thought there was something about that song (it was good!). Only later did I find out, and from then on paid closer attention to anything by The Burtster.

The Stranglers also did that cover of Bacharach's Walk On By.
