Thanks RTHTW. If his miming and general acting performance on the Chelsea video is anything to go by, it would be a good cack.

Oh, and Daniel Lanois deserves mention. I've only seen him play once, on TV, but his style was mindboggleingly revolutionary. It was mesmerising to watch and listen to. Like Hendrix, he approaches it not only as an instrument, but as a machine that makes sounds, and seemingly to the nth degree.

I just have a grave fear that, in defence of his manhood, he'll now be compelled to post some 'evidence'.

I just tried humming Pills And Soap, and it's quite hummable. Hmm-Hm-Hm .... Hmmmmmm I recently read the story about how they rushed to record it (almost sure it had to do with Thatcher and The Falklands) and release it as a single immediately (just a few days, from conception to release), and I'm r...

I Can't SUFFD, Accidents WH, Good YFTR, Every DIWTB, P&S

Time for another song poll. Again, there's no real logic as to the choice of songs, other than that I didn't think there was an obvious favourite. There is a connection between these songs, however -- that they all appeared on 'The Man -- The best of EC'.

Go.

Bob Dylan Unplugged (95), I would also highly recommend Agree with most of what you said B, but imo BDU is dreadful. I heard Oh Mercy only once. That was enough. SoL, was it the sound of that slide guitar, or what? Otis, may I ask, why? Just curious to see what you have to say... I really like both...

the pommies, the aussies, the yanks...

It's just an informal expression, in an informal forum. In the context used, anyone with half a brain knows that I just meant 'the Japanese market', and that it wasn't offensive or anything.

For more essential Dylan, check out: Early Period: If you want cutting and lucid narrative-style songwriting, John Wesley Harding and The Times They're A-Changin' (that one, obviously more folk). Brilliant songwriting, where not a breath is wasted. They're all great, except you'd probably enjoy &quo...

It does seem to go on, doesn't it? I first heard it from a greatest hits compilation, before i knew it was by Burt, and I just thought there was something about that song (it was good!). Only later did I find out, and from then on paid closer attention to anything by The Burtster.

The Stranglers also did that cover of Bacharach's Walk On By. Don't know too much about them, but they did have some really good sophisticated songs (Golden Brown, Skin Deep, Always The Sun etc) and also some real crap yobbo-sounding ones (Nice In Nice, Big In America, etc) -- can anyone point to an...
