I've always felt GCW was mostly considered a failure because of it's execution, not it's content. Inch by Inch, Love Field, Worthless Thing, The Comedians, Home Truth and a couple of others have much more musical and lyrical bite than most of the songs on PTC and other more highly-regarded Elvis alb...

The tour of the Southern states/recording at local studios along the way concept still sounds like a great idea to us southerners! Especially if it captures the Imposters live sound!!!

Goodbye Cruel World has much better songs that Punch the Clock but the production does not fit the songs at all. Should have been a solo album or a folsky album like KOA.

Go, Spooky, go!!! I've got to mention another one from KOA - POISONED ROSE! This track features great playing from jazz greats Earl Palmer and Ray Brown (not to mention Tom Canning on piano!) and some particularly fine lyrical imagery. It's also sung with incredible feeeling (and an early sample of ...

"Oh, I just don't know where to begin" would be an obvious choice. I also really like the intro to "American Without Tears". What's the word. . .elegiac. Yeah, that's it! Very sweet and defines the tone of the whole album. Vodka-fueled tonight! And enjoying having the ability to ...

That Day is Done ranks up there with Elvis' best songs. He and the Fairfield Four did a spectacular a capella version.

By the way, you youngsters, I was 26 when KOA was released. I remember thinking how far Elvis' had progressed since I started listening to him in 1978! Imagine if I had heard North in 1986!

Spooky, you should be a very proud mom! When my daughter was born in 1996, we could not put her down to sleep. . .she would only sleep while being held! We found that listening to "The Other End of the Telescope" (of all songs!) calmed her down enough to where she could rest outside our ar...

Spooky, if I thought I could make it to Huntsville from Clover, SC, by tonight without losing my job or the kids missing part of the schoolday, I'd be there in a heartbeat, my KOA soul-friend! But you know that KOA has my vote anyway!

Spooky, have you cast your vote, yet?

I'm with Spooky and POV. While TYM was an image and attitude defining album for Elvis and a sound-defining album for the Attractions, KOA is simply the best album Elvis has ever made!
