I hadn't seen this thread. Sorry. I repeat my comments from the other thread below: Regarding The Beatles: "I first heard the Beatles in 1962. They changed everything. It is completely impossible for me to pick just one song of theirs, so I won't choose any of them." More likely, however, ...

EC's "Artist's Choice"

My spouse was in Starbucks and saw at the counter a CD called "Artist's Choice: Elvis Costello: Music That Matter's To Him," and of course, bought it for me. It is a collection of songs chosen by EC. The songs chosen are excellent. The CD comes with a book including his notes on why each s...

Hard to compare, they are different types of players. Bruce certainly was flashier. I read once (probably on this board) that Bruce was recently asked to join The Who, but he declined. Too bad, sounded like a good fit.

Wardo, my first EC album was Girls x 3, which is a great place for those interested in EC to start. No one ever seems to mention it on this board for some reason, but it is terrific for any EC newbie. I have since bought every album covered by Gx3, but I tend to view these albums based on how many r...

Will we ever get to hear the takes of "I Hope Your Happy Now" cut with the Keltner/Scheff/Froom lineup? EC says "We struggled through a few tentative takes, but it was useless." So maybe not, but I think he is holiding it for the next re-re-re-release. Spooky, if you haven't alre...

I find B&C to have a low ranking on my Gx3 delta scale. That means, how many songs NOT on Girls Girls Girls, but on the album, make the album worth buying. Since Gx3 has I Hope You're Happy Now, Uncomplicated, Tokyo Storm Warning, and I Want You, my four favorites -- by far -- on the album (and ...

I'm with you WSS, I think PTC is a very good album. I think the top and bottom two or three rankings would probably stay put, all of the rest may change from day to day. 1. Everyday I Write The Book 2. Shipbuilding 3. TKO (Boxing Day) 4. Let Them All Talk 5. Pills And Soap 6. Mouth Almighty 7. Charm...

I had assumed that the two CD "Best of" the poster mentions is "Girls Girls Girls." If it isn't, then that is a "no-brainer" next pick up for our poster. If it is, then the next album to buy should consider what I call the Gx3 delta factor. This means how many songs on ...

Get Happy. Of course, the others suggested above (e.g., Brutal Youth) are also good. Since no one else has suggested it, though, if you like Imperial Bedroom, I am going to suggest All This Useless Beauty, which is an excellent album. Maybe pick that one up after Get Happy.

Spooky, if you have the Ryko re-release (like I did), you can probably sit this one out. This is my take on the "new" material after one or two listens. It is possible, however, that the stuff may grow on me -- I've been known to change my mind. The liner notes are the same, with a few aug...

If my pet snake were poisonous, it would be doubly-barred, as a weapon and a snake. I can't imagine what would happen if I used my poisonous pet snake as a hula hoop.

They really are taking all the fun out of these outdoor concerts.

Sorry WSS. Mug, Summerstage has some pretty creepy rules -- no coolers, no chairs, no backpacks or duffelbags. No weapons (!) or alcohol. Need I point out that they specifically prohibit hula hoops, snakes, and children under 3 years old. (I'm not kidding!) Blanket and book seem to be allowed, though.

Predictions for Tonight's Show at the Beacon

I predict EC and the Imposters WILL NOT play Riot Act, continuning the unbroken streak of him never having played it at any show I have ever seen him do, going back to the Punch the Clock tour.

Anyone have any other predictions?

Does anyone think the Ray Nathanson horns will appear? I don't.
