I'm so glad we have Pitchfork around to bring us the latest music news.
And here I thought they might be able to tell us something we didn't know about Season 2

Re: Elvis sings on soundtrack "The Invention of Lying"
Just saw this last night. Good fun, even if it doesn't live up to the brilliance of The Office or Extras . Some great cameo appearances from John Hodgman, Stephen Merchant, Shaun Williamson, Ed Norton, Philip Seymour Hoffman, among others. http://facova.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/the-invention-of-l...

Re: SPECTACLE APOLLO 2 debut!
I'm excited too.
Anyone hear anything about other to-be-filmed episodes of Spectacle for the second season? I know Macca's name has come up a few times but I'm not sure his episode has been filmed yet. I'd also really like to see Brian Wilson and Randy Newman this season. We shall see.

Re: SPECTACLE APOLLO 2 debut!
I suspect they'd sooner air a 90-minute episode than split it into two airings. They also might be filming extra-long episodes on purpose for the purposes of online only content or DVD extras.

Re: SPECTACLE APOLLO 2 debut!
Wow - sounds like some incredible shows so far, especially the Springsteen episode. (Can't wait to hear Elvis' version of "Point Blank," one of my favourites) I'm gutted to hear that Levon Helm didn't do any singing in his episode. His voice is actually quite good again these days, as is e...

Re: Spectacle season 2
Sheesh. What's with all the Toronto bashing? New York is great, but this is a world class city too you know. Also, U2 is currently on tour so it's possible his was the only opportunity to get Bono in for a taping. Also Spectacle is a CTV co-production and CTV is headquartered in Toronto. Executive p...

Re: Spectacle season 2
Oh man. Thanks for the tip-off. If I wasn't battling this nasty cold, I'd so be there!
I hope this means there'll be more Toronto tapings to come. Toronto is currently abuzz with celebrities for the Toronto International Film Festival so I suspect a number of them will be in attendance.

Re: Recently viewed films
Saw Inglorious Basterds last weekend. Marvelous. Just put in my choices for the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival. If I have my way, I'll be seeing the newest films by Joel & Ethan Coen ( A Serious Man ), Michael Moore ( Capitalism: A Love Story ), Ricky Gervais & Matthew Robinson ( T...

Very enjoyable listen. I especially liked hearing "Southern Nights" without that effect on Allen's voice.

Re: Elvis and the Sugarcanes, Massey Hall, Toronto, 28 Aug 2009
Great show, as always. Elvis really comes alive in Massey Hall, stepping away from the microphone occasionally to let the acoustics of the theatre do its magic. Setlist is pretty much identical to those of previous nights this week, though Elvis inserted two new songs. One he claimed, "I wrote ...

Re: Under The Covers, Volume 2 - Matthew Sweet/Susanna Hoffs
Sheesh - I guess I shouldn't have been so quick to buy this on CD. I didn't realize just how many bonus tracks there are available on iTunes. I forked over the $ and downloaded a few of 'em yesterday... "Killer Queen," "A Song For You" (Gram Parsons) and "(What's So Funny 'B...

We're looking forward to it. You'll also get to experience The Horseshoe Tavern, a tiny venue that's a Toronto landmark, having hosted everyone from Willie Nelson and Conway Twitty to the Ramones and Talking Heads.

Picked this up today. Enjoying it so far, though maybe not as much as the last one. Definitely more Hoffs-heavy, though I really likes what she does with "Maggie May" and "Bell Bottom Blues." Looking forward to hearing some of these bonus tracks.

I guess I have to respond to this, don't I? :P I'm eager to hear what other people have to say, but here it goes... The Beatles CDs currently on the market were released in 1987, when the compact disc was still a relatively new technology. One thing they had figured out how to do right away was make...

Re: New Gig Thread
Reviews of 'Wilco (The Album)' I've seen thus far are (so) lacklustre, but then again it's seen as a follow-up to 'Sky Blue Sky', which seems to be a disappointment, whereas I would say it has some excellent stuff on it (first half more than second) There's a certain breed of reviewer that wants ev...

Got this on vinyl a few days before the official release date (thanks, Criminal Records!)
Best. Album Cover. Ever.
Oh yeah, and the album's pretty great too.
