Was I the only boardperson there? Yeah, a great day. I had the tickets long before the announcement of Live 8, had tried repeatedly to get Live 8 tix and failed so after hearing Paul and U2 from outside Hyde Park, myself and herself had ended up in Regent's Park watching it all on a big screen. Heeeyyyyy, some of us live in North London! :D Saw this in the free version of the Standard with the headline "Elvis upsets Kenwood's clasics fans" Struck me as a kind of fake story to get publicity, but it had a decent WIWC image of EC.

Elvis Plays London - July 2nd, 2005

Following the equivocal info on JohnE's site, a check on ticketmaster.co.uk shows that Elvis and the Imposters play London on July 2nd. The tickets have been on sale since Saturday. An unusual venue, it's an outdoor show in an english country house on Hampsted Heath. Some links... http://www.compuli...

Vote for EC in Top 100 Albums (Channel 4)

Channel Four in the UK are doing another top 100 thing and they've created a rather myopic list of 125 nominees for the op 100, the only EC feature is MAIT, which is far from being my fave EC record. Anyways, support the man, etc... http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/G/greatest/albu...

Yeah, that doesn't bode well for the DVD. Pedestrian production, annoying direction (keep the camera still, direct with respect to the music) and a bunch of fluffed lyrics. Can't wait till I have to buy it.

Fountains of Wayne doing The Kinks song "Better Things" is one. Nick Lowe's take on "True Love Travels on a Gravel Road" is another and The Futureheads doing "Hounds of Love" is a current favourite.

Why is it, with all the modern technology and men on the moon, etc, do computer printers still take the piss? The one we have at work keeps doing that thing where it spews out page after page with only one or two lines of gibberish on each one. We also have a brand new state of the art label printer...

Damn good gig, one of the best, I think. I was one of the few who broke from the ranks at the back to get down the front. So happy to hear Suit of Lights after a 15 year wait and the best I Want You I've ever seen, plus found Good Year very affecting. I was amazed at how quiet the crowd were and EC ...

Ahhh, Bad Ambassador beat me to this bit of news... obviously you're not totally immume to iTunes... But where's the fun in that? You spend loads of money on poor quality versions of songs which you could potentially lose if your computer dies. Any discs you burn maintain the quality of the s...

3,790 EC tracks, that's impressive! I checked out that U2 edition at my local Apple Store. I think they give you a coupon toward the purchase of the complete U2 from iTunes, plus the booklet you describe. Seemed like a bit of a rip-off to me. For the privilege of having a black and red iPod that wil...

Your iTunes Library...

When I had to move from Dublin last year the first thing I did was digitise my CD collection onto iTunes (yes, I should have had other priorities) This seemd to unleash an unhealthy obsession where nothing escaped getting ripped: CD I hadn't listened to in a decade, CDs I hadn't listened to at all, ...

I think The Fall are my new favoutire band(NFB). Did you see the BBC 4 documentary a few weeks ago? Really made me see the band in a new angle and got some stuff off the net. I really am resistant to buying TDM again. I'm five weeks into a new year's resolution/experiment not to buy any records, the experiment being that I buy what I want on download instead.

This thread is great, I've never really clicked with Bruce, The Clash and Zep. I had the argument of The Who vs Zep at work the other day, a straw poll favoured Zep, boo. Plus I'm with MBA, I don't get the Bright Eyes thing at all.
