Every time I listen to it, it does so much more for me than I expect it to. I always forget how much I like it, and then I find myself in the shower singing at the top of my lungs, "BECAUSE I STILL HAVE THAT OTHER GIRL IN MY HEEEEAAAAD!" For example.

things i saw in amsterdam

Actually, this should probably be called, "shoes I saw in Amsterdam." This big yellow shoe kept stalking me. http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3d905b3127cce8b21c3e120660000003610 Here it is in a canal, with tulips painted on it. Could one get more Dutch? http://im1.shutterfly.com/procs...

And Ms. BA -- What about stocky, er, post-boys, who have the sense not to wear tight t-shirts and (not surprisingly) do eat plenty of meat (even if they try to cut down on the fat) and of Jewish ancestry and occasional agnosticism but with center-left politics some would describe as leftist but oth...

The Thrills and The Sleepy Jackson are both really good, they're both in a very summery indie-pop vein. I didn't know anything about either one of them, they were at the fnac listening booth, and I liked what I heard. If you like Beulah, you'll like the Thrills. Tallulah, what do you think of Fever ...

I have Sondre Lerche's album, it's quite good. Along the lines of Kings of Convenience (fellow Norwegians), but more tuneful, and happier.

What I can't stand is when people can't accept that I don't like certain things. Like Amélie. What is it about that movie that drives people to fanatically defend it? People! It isn't any good! It sinks under the weight of its own self-conscious whimsy!

I accidentally bought a few CD's when I went to fnac to pick up a birthday present for a friend of mine: "Mods" soundtrack--little-known sixties songs. Little-known by me, anyway. Le Nombre-French indie-rock. The Sleepy Jackson-perfect summer indie-pop And then a week before that, fnac was...

I'll tell you what floats my boat, in a general way. Skinny indie rock boys with hair flopping into their eyes who wear tight t-shirts and polyester pants and glasses and have a sweet smile with which they are generous and have leftist politics and don't eat meat and are either Jewish or atheist, or...

Better off without him, that's all I have to say. Boys can be a lot of fun, but they can be more trouble than they're worth, especially when they catch PDS (Puppy Dog Syndrome) and you feel irrationally guilty for not being as intense about the relationship. Paraphrasing Proust, when one person love...

drunken things we have done in the last week

Now, remember, this is only in the last week. No stories from twenty years ago, the embarrassment/pride must still be fresh. -made out with three firemen -chased two boys down a dark street at four in the morning, threatening to punch them because one of them had slapped my ass -sang along to every ...

Actually, I look at those statistics all the time, or at least mine. I make a conscious effort to keep my average posts per day number under two. Somehow that makes me feel like even more of a nerd than if I didn't pay any attention and racked up some outrageous number of posts.

I saw Yo La Tengo the other night; they were amazing, and I met Ira after the show and we chatted about New Jersey. Incredibly nice guy, I wasn't even nervous or anything. Other than that...I'm itching for Sleater-Kinney.

Consider it retracted. You are officially the cleverest multiple poster on the board, whatever the pseudonym.
