I guess that was kind of my point. Why not just put all the "extra" tracks on the actual disc? In this case, I think the extra tracks are not in keeping with the mood of the album, so it was appropriate to keep them off. Of course, I'm sure they'll be released on some EP that we'll be abl...

I agree I think that North is just the right length. I can listen to the whole record in one sitting, plus one or two of the extra tracks, on my train ride home.

Does anyone else but me REALLY like the song Impatience?

Elvis's expression looks like he just found out how much the divorce is going to cost him. :D Diana should get on him to start working out. Patty did that to Bruce S. and it's paid off quite well. During the 1999-2000 reunion tour he was looking a bit paunchy. On The Rising tour he was back to his o...

They are already auctioning off tickets for some Sting concert. Granted, the concert is for charity, the one situation where I could see an auction being acceptable.

If it's the sometimes tense and busy instrumentation on TJL that bothers you, that's not how North strikes me at all. But nor is it really much like PFM... The vocals dominate and are not even loud. The instruments do their job but don't attract too much attention to themselves. I swear, it sounds ...

Yeah, she's not on WNYC either. Luckily, she IS on WBGO in Newark, which I can get from home. Unfortunately, I probably won't be home in time to listen.

Hey, Misha - what did you say? I didn't hear you! :D Seriously, though, the more I listen to North the more I enjoy it. Seeing the songs performed live helped a lot to. I can see many times in my life in the future when I will be in the mood for this record. I haven't listened to Nebraska in years t...

I enjoyed the show a lot, particularly Beyond Belief and ATUB. Also thought that Pump it Pump was really pumped :), better than I remember seeing it concert last year. I'm guessing that the show was fixed. There was probably a predetermined list of songs that he would play, and those callers who wan...

My understanding is that the "Live By Request" segment was taped with the Imposters. At 2 hours, this might be the longest running time EC has performed on American TV with a band backing him up. I've never seen this program and wonder how much time will allotted for be live music and how...

Only one copy of North for me!

I'll be recording the A&E show tonite. Since I have 2 VCR's I can make two tapes and ship a copy to one of you Brits if you all want to share it or something. Only thing is I seem to remember that your VCR's may be designed for a different format than ours.

From alt.fan.elvis-costello - EC and Steve Nieve played a generous two and a half hour set to an adoring, sold out house Monday night in NYC. I timed it, it was actually just over 2 hours. The fans were adoring. Even this immense 250 lb guy in front of me that looked like an extra on the Sopranos.

Great, Great, GREAT show! I'm ecstatic. The setlist was a diehard fan's dream. Songs I never expected to see - Rocking Horse Road, All the Rage, Shot with His Own Gun, MOOT, and God's Comic with the audience singing "now I'm dead, now I'm dead. . . " The North material went over extremely ...
