Dr J, I was thrilled too when he started Suit Of Lights, which I love - but alas he did that thing where he changed the melody of the incredibly melodic chorus, changing the effect - I wish he'd stuck to the melody on the record. Highlights for me were the ballads - my favourite, I think, was Scarle...

"In Another Room"

Love this classic new song! Really hearfelt singing, great melody, and fantastic lyric. Really made an impact first listen, like a lot of classic songs! Christ, he's talented.

Yeah, and it would've been great to see the Blood & Choclate songs from Whistle Test: the best TV stuff he's ever done, I think! Alas, I presume it's BBC copyright.

What are the futurama sessions? Are they the same as the Clarksdale sessions, and what is the track listing?

It's a great, comical track, with a great melody and arrangement. I reckon Elvis must hate it cos some of the lyrics sound a bit tossed off ('when you've got a face like last week's cornflakes), but he should lighten up! Wish he'd put it on the Imperial Bedroom reissue.

Am I the only person on earth who's immune to the Presley voice? It just doesn't move me - the wobbliness etc. - it's always left me cold. If you admit this, people look at you like you're a martian. He's a great rocker of course, but his ballad singing for me is pretty awful. Have you heard how he ...

Hi all - this is a last gasp request for the chords for the songs mentioned in the title of this thread.

Anyone know 'em? I'd be dead grateful!

Blue Chair - the Blood and Chocolate version, not the Booker T-style version!

Also think that if he'd release Man Out Of Time BEFORE you Little Fool, it would've been huge!

Let's hope the reissue has some really great live versions: he did a mean 'The Great Unknown' in Robert Wyatt's Meltdown a couple o' years back - first time he'd ever performed it live, apparently!

The best ones for me are: This Year's Model (classic, iconic image of Elvis, which also really sums up the new-wave look, and the punk/post-punk obsession with fashion) King Of America (serious yet hilarious portrait - can't read that expression at all! The cropping/lighting is perfect.) Spike (gre...

Cool. What's the gist of the lyric for Country Darkness? And what does the Delivery Man actually sound like? Is that the one that goes 'I dreamed of my last lover tonight. I keep my lipstick twisted tight etc...'?

Elvis's newest songs - more detail please!!

Hi all - anyone here got to know the new songs (Nothing Clings Like Ivy, Monkey To Man, Country Darkness etc etc...) through concert recordings or the like?

I'm dying to hear a rundown on 'em! Anyone care to try and capture the sound of them in words or compare them to other songs?

Cheers xxx

I'm not crazy about the Album, but it does have an astonishingly beautiful trio of covers in Good Year For The Roses, Sweet Dreams, and How Much I Lied. I actually think Sweet Dreams is far superior to Patsy Cline's version, which I guess is the most famous one. Elvis's voice is so heartbroken on it...

The song 'Girl In The Other Room'

Loved this song on first listen - but I have to say the wonderful lyric is also pretty cruel, as the girl in the other room is clearly Cait, having to listen to Elvis and Diana on the other side of the wall. God knows what she would think if she heard it. That said, I doubt she's one of the ones who...

I'm really disappointed! I was all fired up for an April release! Aw well - he does tend to release them at around the same time as a new release, in order to capitalise on the attendant publicity. Perhaps it means his new album will be out august or sept too!
