Re: Elvis & Steve, Helsinki (Finland), September 9, 2023

Very true! But too late. Half time in Lahti and even if I legged it now and got the train it would just be the last few strains of Alison or PLU. Some good recent set lists though.

Re: Elvis & Steve, Helsinki (Finland), September 9, 2023

By a strange coincidence I am in Finland and have a ticket for a concert tonight at the Sibelius Hall in Lahti, just up the road from Helsinki. The 1978 version of me would be shocked at the decision I'm about to make. Still love Elvis but maybe too many concerts for the voice?

Re: Meaning - Mr Crescent?

Changing the original subject and not wishing to get into the "Riot Act" argument you could make almost a double album of great Elvis closers. Surely "Big Sister's Clothes", "Unexpected 4", "Favourite Hour", "Town Cryer" and "The Birds Will Stil...

Re: The Songs of Bacharach & Costello: 4 album set based on Painted From Memory, March 3, 2023

PFM was/is very dear to my heart and I would willingly pay £180 out of my meager resources for something that good : as one CD, with no frills. The rest of it just seems to be clutter and noise to me.

Re: 10 NIGHTS AT THE GRAMERCY NYC FEB 2023

Some of the best Elvis concerts I’ve seen have been solo. The Royalty in 1986 and Birmingham in 2010 really stick out in my mind but I seem to have entered some sort of hyper-inflation world or have been transported forward ten years. $2,000 for ten concerts is good value to see mainly one man and a...

Re: Alibi

For reasons I can't explain one of my least favourite Elvis songs. Dirgelike and too unpleasant for me. First of the notes I've not liked. Thanks for the analysis though.

Re: Elvis & The Imposters, Regent Theatre, Ipswich, June 22, 2022

The Ipswich show was really great. What surprised me most was the quality of Elvis’s voice. Best I’ve heard him for many years. And his guitar playing was fantastic as well. Surely very underrated. My partner came along - by no means a fan - but was really impressed as well. Not being ageist but I’m...

Sorry to hear about that. Having been in attendance in Norwich for the 2005 show in similar circumstances you may have dodged a bit of a bullet as it was not much fun and it was clear that he was not happy about the timing or the location. Little consolation I guess. That's the beauty of supporting ...

Re: The Boy Named If, new album by Elvis & The Imposters, January 14, 2022

Hard to believe that this time in 2018 I was cursing that there hadn’t been a bus for five years, and that one had been going in the wrong direction, even though quite a few people got on. And now three turn up almost together. Loved Look Now, although it lacked the rough edges and I got fed up with...

Re: New album with the Imposters in 2021?

Must say I'm a bit surprised by some of the comments in this thread. Call me Mr Naive but surely if you were comfortably off, had a talent for something and given how easy it is to put music out there nowadays surely it should be a pleasure to make your fans happy.

Can't see the point but not sure he's lazy as such, just concentrating on things that aren't to my taste for reasons I struggle to understand. Certainly wont be listening to a Spanish TYM. Would just ruin the original.

Absolutely. Appreciating the tough times and that people have to make a living but all of this is kind of ruining the last 44 years. Loved the album though.

Re: New album Hey Clockface released October 30, 2020

Not really one for coloured vinyl or pencil cases or a Spanish TYM or all-singing AF reissues but hoping that the cash will find its way to those in the industry who are suffering. But HC is great stuff. A few thoughts on the songs. 1. Refreshing and a nice change from a normal style opener. 2. Grea...

Replying to Dr Luther... 'I realized about three weeks ago that this probably wasn't happening, so I pushed it back a month, so we can catch SF Giants playing the DBacks. Probably go to 2 of the 3 games.' As possibly one of a very small subset of a subset who are from the UK and love baseball as muc...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

Thanks Hawksmoor. That's cheered me up. This is the end right from 'Waiting for the End of the World' I guess. Not sure 'I want to vanish' would ever be good enough as a final song but if memory serves me it was the last with the Attractions? Maybe I'm reading too much in to the confessions and the ...

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

FIRST POST Thought I’d dip my toe in with thoughts on the new album. As I recall I used a similar forum, perhaps a predecessor, back in the years 2000/2001. I was the Invisible Man then but I disappeared. I first encountered Elvis through a grainy TV showing of him singing Alison and then on TOTP wi...
