Re: 1978, Armed Forces , sleevenote
Fascinating and informed review, written, I'm guessing, by a real fan. I'm pleased to say I only listened to this album ( on the Smash label thanks to KRM) yesterday but I'll revisit it this weekend in the light of this great article, sweetest punch wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 11:28 am https://www.popmatters.com/elvis-costel ... rces-atr45

Re: Mighty Like A Rose at 30
Definitely in my top 5 Elvis albums. It hit me hard at a very significant and emotional time in my life (aged 21) and had a big impact. All Grown Up, How To Be Dumb, So Like Candy and Couldn’t Call It Unexpected are four of his very greatest. The only disappointment for me was that the tour was kin...

I have a ticket and just gave it away , got stuck in travel and won't be back in time, typical of my luck a week of florida dates and i am out of state. I do have Nashville ahead and maybe will get to one or 2 more. Sorry you couldn't make it, hope you get to see a few of these great sounding shows !

Great to see Elvis in a kilt - but with a PVC top
Even as a Sassenach, I'm mortified!
But brilliant photos nonetheless despite the sartorial faux pas and amazing to see him with a banjo - I'm tempted now to see how much one is !

Brilliant, precise and articulate review - just like the album. I just might start a personal tradition and play this today - like another tradition someone on here has of playing North on Christmas Day

Re: Costello & Nieve in concert, Glasgow (Scotland), September 5, 2024
I'm looking forward to this one. A new venue for Elvis. From the top of my head, the Glasgow venues I've seen him at are; Satellite City Apollo Theatre Pavilion Theatre Tiffany's King's Theatre Armadillo Barrowland Ballroom Royal Concert Hall What a brilliant range of venues ! I’m jealous if seeing...

Re: Costello & Nieve September 2024 UK tour
Booked decent seats in the stalls in Wolverhampton Civic Hall pre-sale. I fainted last time I saw Elvis at this venue, on the Brutal Youth tour. Not because of his animal magnetism I hasten to add….but due to a bad dose of flu. The last time I saw him there too - memorable for me because my cassett...

Re: What's your best ever EC gig?
Okay folks, I'm gonna have to do it incrementally...I'll go chronologically one at a time so I can give voice to why it was a BEST EVER SHOW. EC AND ATTRACTIONS 12/31/1981 Almost Blue, Almost 82 was my 5th! I remember being SHOCKED at the absurdly expensive ticket price of $29.50, quasi grateful my...

Elvis sitting on the aisle about 10 rows back tonight at the Dylan show in Newark. This is the fourth time he’s seen the show this leg of Bob’s tour (that we know of). Someone said he was taken backstage after tonight. Dave Was it good , Dave? Glad you got to go and see Bob again - at least I’m sup...

Fantastic memories BA and of course a fantastic show-,Steve’s playing in his solo spot was probably the spark that led to Keyboard Jungle and Playboy and the range of songs would have been amazing. I’m so glad you raised the princely sum and got your best gig - and that it’s been shared so freely :w...

Re: What's your best ever EC gig?
I've seen him maybe 20 times the last 30 years? Best show might've been his solo show at the Ryman in 2014. No disrespect to the Attractions or the Impostors, and maybe I'm getting older, but I just don't care for all the banging about and noise. The subtle nuance of just acoustic guitar and voice ...

Tough question! I've managed to narrow it down to 2 or 3.. Royal Albert Hall April 1999 (Lonely World Tour) - epic 30+ song set and I had a front row seat! Bristol Academy Sept 2002 - absolutely packed venue, blistering set finishing with the most intense version of I Want You that I've ever heard ...

Re: What's your best ever EC gig?
For me in the realms of 160+ shows, the surprise ones will always be the one offs, like Paris last month, solo in Cardiff in 1984, RAH July 1994 with reunited Attractions, Harrogate in 2014 (?) but beyond compare, The New Picket, Liverpool July 2007 wins hands down. A blistering soul set with Allen ...
