I love this album, but 1. It takes a few listenings to get used to it; and 2. You have to be in a blue mood. The first time I heard it, I said to myself: "Well, that's about what I expected it to sound like." I put it down and never listened again. Months later, I saw EC at Randall's Islan...

There are a few regular posters here from Toronto, but I guess it isn't enough for an accurate statistical sampling of EC fans there. I'm guessing that there are no promoters up there that want to pay him to do a show. In another thread from about a year ago, someone had posted a link that indicated...

Maybe EC was referring to Tony Blair.

Or Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar. Of course, he's in no position to bring any boys back home.

It is EC's right to say what he wants about politics and he does so at his own peril. (Remember the Dixie Chicks? And the Rolling Stones recent back pedalling?) However, being that he was smack dab in the middle of NYC when he first changed the lyric, it is probably a safe bet that a little Bush bas...

You can get You Lie Sweetly (and Passionate Fight) on Steve Nieve's web site. I know that's not a "release" but it also isn't a bootleg. It's a legal download.

Bamboo, as an old fart myself, I think that would have been better off unsaid (at least by me). By the way, the people around me were pretty much amazed at how beautiful Emmy Lou looked. I agree, she looks great. Only her silver hair (which I like) gives away her age. Billyboy, he sang Love Hurts. (...

Most certainly. I was standing right behind EC when they shot Emmy Lou and him walking up to the stage -- he was pointing to the little girl's Ramones shirt. I was over his right shoulder in a maroon shirt and sunglasses.

Today Show --I Guess I Blew It

I was standing in front at the Today show. EC was walking around talking to kids and signing autographs. I was about three feet away from him and decided I had better say something to him. But what? I started to speak. When he realized I was speaking to him, he leaned in to hear me. Not knowing exac...

I was standing right behind EC and EmmyLou when they began (when Elvis was pointing to the little girl's Ramones T-shirt).

EC spent alot of time talking to the little kids in the front (there were a few), and signing autographs, talking to people.

I got to speak with him briefly.

Thanks!

Now that I have that straight, what song did EC segue into from Pump It Up (I left early!) Was it "Whole Lotta Love" or "Aint That a Lot of Love." There's a big difference!

I'd like to thank the nice woman who handed me a cheese and cracker on my way to the end of the line to get in. I really needed it! Would someone tell me about the additional lyric added to TDM. Normally, I do not like that song (I find it TD ous!), but he added a few verses. Was this another song? ...

Sorry Blue. Well, he lives in NYC, is playing a show in NYC on Tuesday and appearing on Letterman (in NY) on the 21st and then on Today (in NY) on Friday. So, it is easy for him and the group to stay put and do some TV in NYC. But, as I've said before, I'm surprised he isn't going to Toronto, especi...

BS&T's first two albums are very good. I like Chicago's first album, the Chicago Transit Authority. Both of those are very good horn-driven pop groups. Wasn't Billy Cobham, the ace drummer, in the 5th dimension? Mr. Average, I like how you associate certain songs with certain childhood experienc...

Why are people afraid to admit they like certain music? If you like it, it is OK. People may disagree, but so what! You don't need the board's approval. Lots of people don't like Elvis Costello! Or only like "the old stuff." If you like Don McClean, great, or Naz's version of Love Hurts, g...

I do know the Nazareth song. It crossed my mind for about one nanosecond that it could be a cover of that song, and dismissed it.

I haven't heard any of the other versions you mentioned.

Love Hurts

Is anyone famliar with this song? Apparently, when EC and EmmyLou Harris appear on Letterman on the 21st, that is what they are going to sing. From an e-mail from Lost Highway: "Elvis Costello & Emmylou Harris will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman on July 21st singing "Lov...

This is a great question, and I assume a few of the posters who are also musicians, will chime in. He is not a guitar virtuoso by any means. In my opinon, his rhythm guitar playing is pretty good. He certainly knows lots of chords and can play rather well in a variety of styles. His lead guitar play...
