Re: Best Country Songs by Elvis Costello?
This may just be a first draft, but this is the playlist CD I ended up going for... (I barely was able to make it all fit on one disc, but) 1. You Win Again 2. Sulphur To Sugarcane 3. How Much I Lied 4. Shoes Without Heels 5. The Big Light 6. Jailhouse Tears 7. The Crooked Line 8. Radio Sweetheart 9...

Best Country Songs by Elvis Costello?
The latest Costello playlist I was wanting to make was a compilation of some of his best country numbers. Two of my favorites though, are "The Big Light" and "I Lost You". Almost blue is an obvious "go to" album to pick tracks from (also Kojak Variety and King Of Americ...

Re: 40 DAYS OF ELVIS COSTELLO: A Countdown To WISE UP GHOST
Thanks for this 40 day countdown, though! Sad it is drawing to a close. It has been a great reflection and celebration of an amazing music career. It has also been nice hearing all the thoughtful comments from board regulars. I certainly feel like I have learned a lot, and have grown a greater appre...

Re: 40 DAYS OF ELVIS COSTELLO: A Countdown To WISE UP GHOST
National Ransom is very easily in my top five, as well. On the topic of the title track, I like it quite a bit! (but I like it even better when it is just Elvis playing the song with an acoustic guitar as seen in several of the live versions.) Also, "All These Strangers" never fails to mov...

Re: 40 DAYS OF ELVIS COSTELLO: A Countdown To WISE UP GHOST
Alibi!... ...I am kind of surprised that a lot of people on here don't care for the album version. It is like a less dramatic version of "I Want You"... A dark and dreary slow jam rock number, with a good repetitive hook line. Plus, I am not sure how other people interpret the meaning of ...

Von Otter... yeah, something about that lady really bugs me.
I can see from a technical standpoint how people could claim she has a good voice,
But good god, there is no soul behind the surface of that girl!
By far, "For The Stars" is my least favorite project that Elvis has ever worked on.

Re: 40 DAYS OF ELVIS COSTELLO: A Countdown To WISE UP GHOST
The intimate nature of these recordings are really beautiful [The Gwendolyn Letters]. I never even knew this collection of songs even existed. And on, "I Want To Stand Forever"... those words sound so tender and sweet coming from that scratchy sore throat. lol It adds an extra sense of mor...

Cheap Reward [remastered]!
So, I made this because I love the song, but the original recording leaves something to be desired. You guys are welcome to it! http://www.sendspace.com/file/7j8bn0 What I changed: - The vocals are now wider and panned towards the center. - I doubled the guitar track, to give it a fuller sound, and ...

Thanks for all the replies! Wow. This must be a pretty lively forum! (Wasn't expecting such quick feedback!) And I will totally check out your playlist, sir "platypus"! I have most of Elvis Costello's major albums, but I am still trying to get a few of them. (But there are a lot...

Help me find the really good songs!?? (Top 25 all time?)
First post here, so hi everyone! ...So, I am probably only an AVERAGE obsessive when it comes to Elvis Costello, But I have been trying to wade deeper into his material lately, to find more treasures. But with the rediculous amount of material EC has released over the years, it is hard to know where...
