Poppet- Bizarre Love Triangle by Frente! is great but since I've never really liked New Order I can't say it's just as good but better. I'm glad to see a Frente! fan on the board. Sorry to any New Order fans on the board but please keep them away from Johnny Marr. Who are Frente!? They must be OK i...

1. Don't read these lyrics.
2. Go and listen to some other stuff for three months.
3. Listen to these lyrics in September, and then make judgement.

All of the above proves the point: pointless to judge lyrics ahead of the music, detrimental to the music to read them ahead of listening.

That's always been 100% clear to me. The whole lyric is, I think. Love his voice on there. Close to cracking and having problems, very raw. Great stuff.

Alright Doof! I think that BD cover is OK, but not a classic. Quite bold to do it country style, but the original is still miles better, no?

Cameron is an arsehole. Why is he so popular? What's all this bollocks about him being a gentleman and therefore everyone wants to marry him? I don't quite get the difference between being boring and being whatever he is. Too smug by half. Steph is astonishingly tedious. She looks absurd. Am too bor...

CP: interesting that you second Cactus. Isn't a diehard FB fan like you more likely to dismiss such a cover? I know you have very good taste, but am somehow surprised. It really rocks though, now? And the words come across so well. I can see that prison cell and that dress.

Nicely selective 1-10, LTZ! I don't quite get Time Out Of Mind. Admittedly it has one of Dylan's finest songs, and one of the best ever about ageing and death, but apart from that epic moment, it's all a little bit... boring isn't it? Nice production. Quite tasteful, not that memorable. Convince me ...

The reissues are, needless to say, digitally remastered. So should be good. Anyone know/rate the other two mentioned above (AS&Bs, H&Ds)? I can remember the former being in Boots shop in Jersey in the 70s, but have never heard it. Interesting to hear you rate Re-Act-Or. It has such a bad rep...

PorP will give you chapter and verse on the La's, but I would tend to agree with you. The single was stunning, the LP pretty average. I'vre always thought the Pretenders and the Police had that in common, great singles, often average LPs, especially the latter with the dreaded 'let the drummer contr...

Cactus - David Bowie (prefer this to the original, and the two other covers on Heathen are great too). I love the way The Specials took ska classics, often Prince Buster, like Al Capone or Judge Dread, and refashioned them into something totally new, like Gangsters or Stupid Marriage. They must have...

Noise: good way to get me to demote BM from my 'must buy' list. I don't believe you though, and I will not be provoked. I love MV. For me it was harking back to my fave TW LP, and one of my all-time faves, Rain Dogs, in terms of the lovely range of styles, the mix of tender ballads and nutty weird t...

On The Beach

Roll up, roll up, the long lost Neil Young classic OTB gets released for CD for the first time on July 14 (in the UK at least). Neil hates CDs, and says they 'fool the mind but leave the heart sad', which I think is possibly overstating it a tad, but I do have enough of an element of residual vinylh...

4 Don't Worry About The Government - Talking Heads

Do you mean the first letter of each song?

So far:

_ _ _ D T _ _ _ P _ _

Nope, can't do anything with that.

I can't believe you're all looking at the lyrics to an LP that won't be out for 3 months. Stop it now, and erase them from your memories, lyrics are meant to be heard, not read.

You tell 'em Doof! I don't care how could Stevie R V was, nor Rodgers and Edwards, I am not impressed by a serious artist selling out. His credibility went down the chute, and the memory of the brilliance (and challengingness) of Scary Monsters was cast aside for this awful, unsubtle, totally unchal...

Let me at it! This is hopelessly impossible. Some interesting choices, e.g. two votes for Always Crashing. And Girl Out Of Mar Del Plata is clearly a big early Bowie fan, which is cool. And SLL loves Hunky Dory! I've never heard the original Conversation Piece, Storm. Is it good? I like the Heathen ...

Costellopunk's gonna like this! Sounds great, doesn't it? If the songs are good, this could be a scorcher. I imagine it won't be so immediate, so hard to judge well on a first listen. I wonder how he got to hear it. The Elvis torch LP - can't wait.

Let's Dance is ... oh, I'm too grown up for even that red rag. All I can say is: 1973–1982, stranded on the island of Jersey, worshipping Bowie, playing every single LP to death. 1983: student in Birmingham, Bowie plays the huge NEC up the road on the LD tour, Otis stays in to brush up on his knowle...
