Re: Elvis plays Wilbur Theatre, Boston, MA. 17 Nov 2013
These youtube videos are all very well, but does anyone know if there's an audio recording of the show out there anywhere? I've been watching the Dime like a hawk but no dice so far. (It's not that I feel ENTITLED to a recording...and I don't do any taping myself...but I love it when I can get recor...

Re: Elvis plays Wilbur Theatre, Boston, MA. 17 Nov 2013
I'll give you "Detectives", although it was a cool version, but when did 45 and Veronica become "live staples over the years"? I've seen EC between 35-40 times, mostly here in the Boston area, and I've heard 2 live performances of 45, probably no more than 3 or 4 Veronicas. And I...

Re: "They wanted facts, Facts!"
I agree that no psychoanalysis is needed to understand the Columbus incident. It was just a stupid drunken moment in time. As far as long-term effects, however, I think it's one of the best things that ever happened to EC and to us (or at least me) as fans. It's not hard for me to imagine Elvis, unc...

Re: EC SOLO @ NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL - Sunday July 31, 2011
I was there. I'd report in, but it looks like you all got to see it, or at least hear it. Elvis's voice indeed seemed pretty well shot, but he managed to come through in the clutch. A gust of wind knocked a plexiglass sound screen over onto Pete's drums at one point, after which they disappeared fro...

Re: Cape Cod Show with Wheel?
The Cape Cod Melody Tent is "in the round" with a revolving stage. I don't think the wheel would fit on the rather small stage, plus it would obliterate the sight lines for at least half the audience at any given moment. So, no wheel, but still a "revolver" show after a fashion.

Re: Elvis/Imposters Boston, Wang Theatre, 20 May 2011
It reads as if it was set up in advance. Sulky - when you send me the recording can you edit that bit out for me. It sure does read that way, and looking at the picture, it appears Mike has some sort of access patch stuck on his T shirt. And EC knew there was a marriage proposal coming when t...

During the show, the only thing I minded about the proposal was the length of time it took. Now the public milking of it is actually beginning to piss me off.

Also, there were 40 songs on the wheel 25 years ago as well. Not ALL of them.

Re: Elvis/Imposters Boston, Wang Theatre, 20 May 2011
The pub style performers were EC's half-brother Ronan McManus and part of his band Bible Code Sundays, who, as luck would have it, are playing at an Boston Irish restaurant/bar called Four Green Fields tomorrow night (first time I've ever heard of it). Little Palaces evolved into a great uptempo Cel...

Re: Videos Of Elvis With Joan Rivers 1984 - "Must See TV"
The original lyric was really aimed at Reagan, but at John Glenn's expense. To me, it read like a criticism of both candidates, but I don't think he meant to comment on the legitimacy of Glenn's candidacy. (do I make any sense?) You sure do. I think you're right, and I think it's a problem with the...

Re: Videos Of Elvis With Joan Rivers 1984 - "Must See TV"
Of course, when Peace In Our Time was written, John Glenn was running for the Democratic nomination. So the original lyric made sense, but it also had a built-in expiration date, which unfortunately passed before GCW even came out. One of several unfortunate things about that album.

That's a very brave admission on your part, "YEEEEEEEHAW" Guy. You have been an occasional topic of conversation, and consternation, among my fan friends for over 30 years (gulp). I was in the "annoyed" camp until the moment I read your post, but now it seems an about-face is in ...

Hellooo! Macguffinman here: First-time poster, long-time fan, and 1986 Costello Sings Again veteran (all three nights at the Orpheum in Boston, including the Spinning Songbook extravaganza, featuring celeb-spinner Bill Walton). I'm extremely excitedly looking forward to next Friday night at the Wang...
